Primary & High Schools

Applecross Senior High School was established in 1958. It is located in the pleasant near-riverside suburb of Ardross. The school has established and sustained a reputation for high academic, sporting and cultural achievements, winning many academic exhibitions, awards and competitions, and is often placed among the highest performing public high schools.

About 70 percent of the students seek with success to enter a university, and others achieve entry to Technical and Further Education (TAFE) or directly to employment. Those achieving university entrance frequently do so with higher than the State entry Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER), and generally continue to successful completion of their qualifications.

Applecross Primary School is a secular, co-educational school established in 1905. It is ranked within the top 15 primary schools in Western Australia and has a strong academic focus. The school currently services over 500 students from Kindergarten to Year Six.

Applecross Primary School offers specialist classes in Art, Physical Education, Music and French. Additionally, there are several Gifted and Talented Extension classes offered to children working independently in a range of areas. It is highly regarded as one of Perth’s most historic and well renowned primary schools.

As Applecross Primary School is only available to local Applecross residents, Kishorn Apartments is ideally situated within the school’s intake boundaries.

Raffles Hotel

The Raffles Hotel is a historic landmark within the City of Melville. It is a two storey bar and restaurant situated only 850 m from 8 Macrae Apartments. The convenient location, live music and picturesque views have made it a hotspot among Applecross locals.

Originally constructed in 1896, the building has undergone several renovations and redevelopments. Most notably in 2002 with the construction of a 17 storey apartment tower attached to the historic hotel.

Garden City Shopping Centre

Garden City Shopping Centre is one of the largest shopping centres in Western Australia. It was first opened in 1972 and is located only 3.5 km from 8 Macrae Apartments. Garden City currently has over 71,000sqm of floor space, which includes 272 stores and services. It is home to range of amenities including a bus station, public library, cinema, post office and several banking facilities.

In 2015, Garden City was approved to undergo a $750m expansion. This will increase the floor area by 67% and will generate over 10,000 new jobs during construction and once completed. These upgrades are expected to be completed by 2019.
